📘 Rate Classes, Zones & What They Mean

Rate classes and zones define how your utility charges for electricity and help determine the right URate plan for your business.

  • Ameren Service Class: Found on page 1 of your bill, labeled D-2, DS-3, etc. It identifies whether you're a small or medium commercial account.
  • Ameren Zone: Zones A–D determine regional rate pricing. Found under the Delivery Service Charges section.
  • ComEd Rate Class: Includes Watt-Hour (small usage), Small (below 100 kW), and Medium (100–400 kW). Shown in the Rate section of the ComEd bill.
  • ESCO Check: If your bill shows another supplier in the supply section, you may already have an ESCO — but can still switch penalty-free in many cases.
  • Account Number: Required to enroll. 10–12 digits, found near the top of your utility bill.
  • Usage: Most plans assume usage in kWh/year for electric or therms/year for gas. This can be found in the usage summary or meter detail.
