Important Energy Updates for Westchester County: The End of Gas Moratorium & New Pipeline Developments

As a leading Energy Service Company (ESCO) that supplies Con Edison, we are excited to share pivotal updates that impact energy options in Westchester County and how they relate to our services.

End of Westchester's Gas Moratorium:

We're pleased to inform you that Con Edison has announced the end of the temporary natural gas moratorium in most of Westchester County, effective December 1, 2023. This moratorium, which began on March 15, 2019, was initiated to manage a supply-demand imbalance. The recent increase in supply from the Tennessee East 300 Project, coupled with a lower forecasted demand, has resolved this issue, paving the way for new gas hookups and service requests.

For those interested, Con Edison will be reaching out with more information on how to proceed with these services. However, it's crucial to remember that New York State's All Electrification Act remains in effect, mandating a transition to fossil-free alternatives in new constructions beginning in 2026.
