Stay informed with the National Grid outage map, also known as Outage Central, a live, interactive tool that shows where power outages are occurring across National Grid’s service areas in upstate New York and Massachusetts.
The outage map provides real-time information including the number of customers affected, outage status, and Estimated Time of Restoration (ETR). Outage data is refreshed approximately every 5 to 15 minutes, ensuring customers have access to the most current outage information available.
Each outage on the map displays the current restoration progress, with crew status labeled as Assessing, Dispatched, or Repairing, helping customers understand what stage of restoration their outage is in.
Customers can click on outage icons or search by address, ZIP code, town, or county to check outage status, view customer impact, and track restoration updates in their area.
Accessing the National Grid Outage Map & Alerts
Customers can access Outage Central through a web browser or the National Grid mobile app, which allows users to report outages, receive live updates, and sign up for outage alerts.
For personalized notifications, customers can enroll in text alerts by texting REG to 64743, or manage alert preferences through their National Grid account.
National Grid also shares outage updates via email, automated phone calls, social media, and website alerts, especially during major storm events.

Reporting a National Grid Power Outage
If your outage is not shown on the map, customers should report the outage directly to National Grid to help crews detect and respond more quickly.
Ways to report an outage:
- Online through Outage Central
- Using the National Grid mobile app
- By calling 1-800-867-5222
Residents should
not call 911 to check outage status, as this can overwhelm emergency services. National Grid encourages customers to report outages directly through official channels.
